At the retreat
Currently in the best western hotel with such a beautiful view of the ocean. What better way to spend a Friday night with your best friend and Arlene in a hotel room right in front of the beach? I'm looking forward to falling asleep to the oceans lullaby .
baibaibraces--->
i walked back and into the school right when the bell rang. a lot of people went up to me and hugged me and congratulated me, saying i looked nice without braces. the people who gave the funniest reactions were sami, mandy, kevin and mark. kevin just poked my teeth and wished his braces were off.sami squealed and hugged me and said i look beautiful. and mandy SCREAMED and we hugged for so long, and said she isn't used to it. and mark was just yelling CONGRATS ERICA WOOOHOOOOO all the way until we parted directions. everyone gave me an even better reason to smile. it feels if i don't smile anyway, because it just feels like there's jelly on my teeth. if i do smile, that jelly feeling goes away. i love not having braces. it feels soo cooooool.

learn to let go of tired skin
In English class today, we read an essay called "Nature" by Ralph Waldo Emerson. My teacher talked about how he was saying that we can't really be at peace when we're in our rooms. To be at peace, you have to get away from reality, from the every day anxieties. To be at peace, you must see the beauty in nature! With our life based around electronics and stuff like that, we forget the simple pleasures in life. We can get mad about the littlest thing, but we don't take the time to notice the beauty in things we tend to overlook.
"To go into solitude, a man needs to retire as much from his chamber as from society. But if a man would be alone, let him look at the stars. The rays that come from those heavenly worlds, will separate between him and vulgar things."
"To speak truly, few adult persons can see nature. Most persons do not see the sun. At least they have a vey superficial seeing. The sun illuminates on the eye of the man, but shines into the eye and heart of the child. The lover of nature is he whose inward and outward senses are still tryly adjusted to each other; who has retained the spirit of infancy even into the era of manhood."
When we were infants, toddlers, and little kids, everything amazed us. "The moon is following us!" "The stars look like .." etc. We were amazed by the nature around us; we bathed in the simple pleasures of life. But we live, breathe, and struggle with the everyday anxieties of life. We can't see the nature and beauty. Life becomes a routine, and beauty is lost. With beauty comes joy and happiness. When we do realize the beauty, we will feel this amusement we once felt when we were small.
"The stars awaken a certain reverance, because though always present, they are always inaccessible; but all natural objects make a kindred impression, when the mind is open to their influence."

WGWYTK
On this day of your life, Erica, we believe God wants you to know ... that when people tell you nice things, stop shrugging them off as if they are nothing.
The sincere compliments you receive are your jewels, - collect them in your heart, - they highlight the beauty of your being and empower you during challenging times. Never say 'oh, it's nothing' or shrug your shoulders when you hear a sincere compliment. Pause, breath it in, and really feel its meaning.

T13C and Ebb&Flow
around 1 ronnie called me and him and marlon were outside my house campaigning for ron villanueva. they were both jumping on my porch to see if they could touch the ceiling. then i went on ronnie's longboard with him and i went with them to three houses and one of them was my auntie.it was fun sitting on ronnie's long board while he pushed it. thennn i went to sami's and we left for club relevant. we came pretty early so we got to hang out with a band called T13C from florida, it was their last day on tour. they're so funny and friendly. then kevin, renard, alvin and adriel arrived and we watched tanger island! a clip of them playing single ladies:
we didnt watch the other bands perform until T13c andebb&
flow came on
T13C was amazing! they have so much energy! before they went on we met andy; the bassist, joe; lead singer/guitarist, and mike; joe's twin brother whose on the synth, back up vocals, and TROMBONE. mike was rocking out with his trombone, it was AMAZING. me and sami and mandy were screaming, haha. joe looked at me and winked 2 times =D they are so sweet.
then it was ebb and flow. it was aiight, i personally didnt like the screamers but it was still good haha.

WOW, COINCIDENCE
What God wants you to know...
On this day of your life, Erica, we believe God wants you to know ... that you are not to shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find and keep.
The quickest way to find love is to give love. If you want it too badly, you will not find it. The most secure way to keep love is to give it space and care to grow. If you hold it too tightly, you will lose it

oh and that What God Wants You To Know facebook application said:
On this day of your life, Erica, we believe God wants you to know ... that decision is only wishful thinking until you take that first irreversible step.
You can tell yourself that you have already decided, that nothing now can stop you, but if that step backwards is so much safer than step forwards, what will hold you true to your path when the going gets tough? Sometimes, the right thing to do is to take that first irreversible step, the one after which you cannot go back. And now, for you, is one of those times. "

hang on,
I've been looking in the wrong places for the answers. Basically, all I had to do was look within myself, look at who I've become and who made me this way. The answer was already here, it was already inside of me.
After this little epiphany, I think things will go smoothly.
Hopefully.
I just have to hang on,
and so do YOU.

how do you not care?
sometimes, most of the time, i want to stop caring so it won't affect me so much.

The wheel
Today was probably the most interesting lesson i've sat through so far during this whole confirmation process.
Honestly, I don't enjoy going to confirmation class/ccd because I don't learn a lot, and the class makes me not want to be there.
Some people in my class are disruptive, and some of the speakers make me not want to listen to them.
Instead of having a teacher, there are guest speakers. The guest speaker for today was Abbey Causey, the Social Justice worker for our church.
I learned:
-"Plant an act; reap a habit.
Plant a habit; reap a vitue (good thing) or vice (bad thing)
Plant a virtue or vice; reap a character
Plant a character; reap a destiny (who you are, or who you'll become)"
-"Power" is the ability to act.
-"Your plans aren't always God's plans."
-"Love in truth and action."
The closing prayer was a song called "Follow me", and the chorus goes:
"Am I following Jesus, or just believing in Christ?
Cause I can believe and not change a thing.
But following will change my whole life.
He never said,'Come acknowledge my exsistence!'
Or, 'Believe in me, I'm the seond person of the trinity!'
But 87 times he said...'Follow me!'"
... and what i learned from the facebook application..
"You keep wanting to know how things will play out, keep asking to see the future. God doesn't give anyone the power to know the future, because life becomes maddeningly boring when you know everything upfront. So, instead of struggling, enjoy the uncertainty - to be alive means to not know. "

"Someday
seems like a long time, but it's not."
Is it really? Life seems to be going by pretty fast. I hope that "someday" comes here faster. But I must have patience, everyone should have patience so that way the things we long for hit us, when we don't even see it coming.

it smells like christmas!
there are already decorated christmas trees on display at NEX and several
'christmas scents" can already be smelled in the air. you can also smell the coldness outside.
I helped with Children's liturgy today! The teacher showed different pictures of people helping out and the children were asked what they do.
Lifeguard
-"The lifeguard helps you from drowning! You don't want to drown or else you will DIE."
-"When you drown, the ater goes inside your mouth and fills your lungs then you die."
Doctor
-"My doctor helps me because I throw up every day!"
Fireman
-"When there's a fire on your roof you have to stop drop and roll."
Those were said by little 4 year olds. Oh man, I loved Children's liturgy today. hopefully I'll get to help next weekend and the weekend after that and so on..

lock in.
it could have been better- way better. nothing really turned out the way it was planned. it wasn't as organized as it was last year and i think all the facilitators are a little dissapointed.
- i helped out with registration
- while eating i tried sitting with all the tables and justin and i were "bar tenders"
- for the ice breakers we did the name game,PROP SKIT, and friggin boom chika boom boom. i was dissapointed because my group sucked at boom chika boom boom.
- for the little bit of free time i sang karaoke in the blackbox theatre
- the workshop was alright, but because of time we were'nt able to get to the core of the lesson
- during the other free time i ran around and helped out with mr. facs, and danced with sami and mandy
- mr. facs could have gone way better, the talents took too long and everyone was falling asleep and that was around 2?
- "The Laser Lights" (Dj,Lee,MariaCamia,Cj,Jordan) had a concert and i tried to get people hyped by trying to make them jump around with me. It was sweet though.
-Relay Races were alright, i used isiah's dance move for one of the races which was the "tornado" it was a bit disorganized at the begning
-THE ENERGY CIRCLE dissapointed me because some people were tooembarassed to scream ENERGY but the people who did were funny
The things we didnt get to do because of time =[
-We missed the "make emae not laugh" in the mr. facs pageant
-we didnt get to announce the winners of mr. facs but thats to be done at next meeting
-didn't get to do the second part of the relay race
- WE MISSED OUT THE SCARY STORIES
man maaan. last year was fun. but because of the people we have in the club this year, i am so worried about next year.
oh well!
it was from 10-7, i got home at 8 and woke up at 5 to my dad wearing glowing devil horns from the ACDC concert he went to last night.

today was pretty good although we had the psat's, but that just made the day shorter =D
i haven't had a good day like this in a looong whiile.

sugar cookie

I walked outside and Nghia wasn't in the car. I turned around and he jumped out and yelled BOO! I screamed and turned around, then turned towards him and said "Omgomg. Well here's your cookies! THey're sugar cookies! Sorry they're not the kind you wanted, it was all I had."
"Oh, why all of a sudden?"
"I had to make a project out of cookies. Happy belated birthday and thanks for helping me out in the summer!"
He took the "I" dipped it in the milk, and took a bite out of it.
"Happy birthday! Sorry they're a little burnt."
"WHAT THE FUCK I CAME ALL THE WAY HERE FOR BURNT SUGAR COOKIES!? THIS IS THE WORST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!"
Then he took a sip of milk.
"WHAT THE FUCK THIS ISN'T EVEN REAL MILK!"
"It's soymilk! It's all I have!"
Then he said thanks, gave me a hug, and left. Oh, Nghia.
Children's liturgy
Instead of staying for the readings, Gospel, and Homily, I was an assistant for Children's Liturgy today! In Children's Liturgy, we try to teach preschoolers-1st graders the Gospel and help them try to understand it. I read the kids a story that related to it and helped out this little boy with the worksheets. There was a worksheet with a maze, and in the middle was Jesus. The boy I was helping just gave up. The little girl across from him just drew a line from the begining of the maze to Jesus, not understanding that you can't cross the lines. I thought was cute.
I'm kinda sad I didn't get to hear the Gospel, though. I knew it was about holding on and letting go, something I was really looking forward to hearing, something I probably needed to hear.

homecoming!
friday was the day of the pep rally and i also had a mock interview during fashion marketing, which i sort of failed haha. i wasn't really hyped for the pep rally or the game. before the game i went to vron's and chilled with mark and cj. the pep rally was alright, but the game SUCKED. the juniors couldnt get a truck for the float which was totally better than the other classes. we had to take the parts of the float downstairs, and someone stole the otherhalf of the float and brought it to the other side of the school so i just guarded the oher half of the float with angelo.
we LOST our homecoming game 7-19. it was still nice though because i hung out with kaazie the whole time and she's just the bubbliest person i've ever met.
yesterday i went to nex and the commisary and ate lunch at ihop on gen. booth. theen i went home and allen picked me up and we chilled at theresa's for a bit! it was so nice reminiscing with each other.
then allen dropped me off at mandy's and we got ready for the homecoming dance. while getting ready we were head banging to loosen up our curls.
theresa's mom picked us up and dropped us off. first i took a professional picture with theresa, veronica, arlene, jansine, mandy, & kaazie.
theeen i danced with all of themm and all the guys formed a circle around renz and colin forsome parts of the night. within our group we created a soul train, had a batttle between boys and girls, and they played the fresh price of bel air theme songs! when the slow songs came on me and mandy were sad so we left haha and that was the only time i stayed out of the cafeteria for long. i was invited to go to ihop and i came with theresa and i couldnt find her so i got most of the group to go looking for her. renz gave me a piggy back ride and we traveled through the dance floor but could not find her. we went back to where our group was and she was there! turns out she was in the middle with her OL friends.
thennn me, mandy, theresa, and eric rode with jon and met up with justin, matt, jansine, and veronica at the kempsville ihop but it was too crowded. then we met up with victor, colin, angela, kevin, and jimmy at the ihop by pahs. we took pictures and me and theresa sat with victor and colin!

run away
"No he didn't," you said, agaped in response to the news. Besides my family, you were the first to know since it happened an hour prior to your arrival.
"He did. And I'm fine," I said, smiling.
"You are lying," you chuckled while you shook your head.
"Broken Heart" by Motion City Soundtrack flowed through the speakers of the car, and ironically, I smiled.
"Usually I would cry to this song, but I'm actually smiling. I can't believe it."
You glanced at me and insisted I was lying mad hard. Through out most of the drive, you kept your face forward, still shocked, still in the process of soaking in the information as I was.
The particular route you took was one I look forward to taking. You drove smoothly and swiftly, yet not hurriedly down the narrow curved roads passed the sparkling haunted lake, passed the isolated rural homes and small farms, passed the preservation marsh, and passed the towering trees.
I held my breath when I saw the sign that welcomed us to the beach and smiled. I knew that the beach was the perfect location at that given moment.
I dumped my bag on a pile of sand and sat next to it. While I stared straight ahead of me, you played with an empty beer bottle you found in the sand.
I listened to the crashing of the dull waves and to the laughter of the children, wishing I was one of them. I watched the waves ripple with the slight breeze I felt against my shoulders. I exhaled deeply, inhaled the salty breeze and flared my nostril as I did so. I was finally able to satisfy the hunger for the calm enviornment the beach provided.
I got up and barely put a toe in the water. I waited for it to come to me, and it was cold to the touch. I stared at the salty water beneath me and watched the shells slip away with the traveling waves and then tumbling sand. I began collecting shells of all sorts, and you helped me find the best ones. I spent the next few minutes splashing around and chasing the shells before they dissapeared into the waves.
I turned east and my attention was brought to the grey clouds being turned salmon. I looked in my cupped hands and realized that I had collected enough shells. I plopped back on the sand and helped you dig a hole to bury that empty beer bottle. I think you found a little crab and played with it until you thought it died. The sun was not yet setting, but it was getting late. I said goodbye to the peaceful turf and headed back to the car.
While driving down the road of beach houses, "The Fisherman's song" by Mae played, and I gazed out the window intently, listening and drinking the words that the song poured into my mind. I thought the song fit pretty well to the enviornment, seeing as it was about a man trying to "catch a fish" while another tried writing a song.
On the way home I watched the sun play hide and seek with me again, and smiling when I caught it. The closer I got home, the more depressed I became. At least I got to go somewhere and I thank you, for enabling me to run somewhere, and to you.

mr li
a days pretty much suck except for alg II only because of the people i sit with. i sit with one of kim samonte's co-workers, this tough white chick who is dating a high school drop out and who is a rapper, and this tall skinny sophomore who asks about our days every day. kim's co-worker jon falls asleep every single day in the same position, at the same time. he's so random though and everyones reactions to himmake that class really funny.
there was a short facs meeting and it was just about lock in. i went to the junior class council thing for about five minutes and helped angelo cut the box again but he cut my finger. good thing arlene had those neon band aids.
sonya picked up me and mandy and we went with her to buy presents for her friends. i thought she could bring me home but she couldnt cause she had to go to work, so i stayed at the mall with mandy and ate. mandy had to leave though and couldnt bring me home so i was stuck at the mall by myself for almost an hour. i just sat in the food court, tryng to find a ride.
fuck not having a license maaan. i'm soo mad i didn't get it when i was supposed to :[ my life would be so much different if i did have my license haha.
allen left work just to give me a ride home because i couldn't find anyone. how sweet =D i feel bad though but i'll pay him back. it was nice though, because i kept complaining about how much i missed him and we got to catch up with each other.
we talked about how nice it would be to have a middle school reunion, because thats when everybody was close. we talked about how everyone changed, and reminisced.
i really did miss that guy; i'm glad i had the chance to catch up with him even if it was for a little bit.
i have a new big pimple D: IM GOING TO BE ON THE HOMECOMING FLOAT TOMORROW! GO TO THE GAME! well, just the parade which starts at 6:30. i'm going to be a showgirl with veronica =]

cloudless sky
yesterday was gay, maybe because it was very ugly outside and it didn't go the way i wanted it to but that's alright because today made up for it.
did you see the sunrise today? it was so gorgeous.
today was superhero day at school but i didn't dress up. mandy just put two huge red dots on my cheeks so i was pikachu for today although i didn't look like it. my classes were pretty average. during lunch i was freaknig out though because i couldn't finish my psychology test corrections. and sami + erwin. i'm really happy for her because she is finally happy!
afterschool i painted pokerchips for the float and helped angelo cut out holes from the boxes to make dice costumes. although it didn't seem like much it took a really long time.
i decided to walk home again today because it was such a beautiful, cloudless, breezy day. the breeze was my friend and the sun smiled at me. my ipod was on shuffle and it played the happy songs, unlike yesterday when it played sad songs.
my dad is home form new jersey! he's only been gone for a day, but that day was his birthday. in two weeks he'll be leaving for the philippines. it's like he never retired from the military because he's always traveling; but i'm used to him not being around as much.
a mosquito bit my neck. my sister ran away from me because she saw it suck the blood instead of attempting to kill it. oh well time to take a nap.

Peace and Joy
"And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, becaue we know that suffering produces perserverance; perserverance character; and character, hope. And hope does not dissapoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:2-5

a few minutes ago,
i wanted to get my dad's harry potter birthday card signed by my sister and i before he left for new jersey tomorrow. he won't be home for his birthday on tuesday (which is also my mom's birthday!) i tried to wake my sister up by poking her stomach, and even putting my finger in her nose but she continued snoring. i grabbed her hand, put the pen between her fingers, and signed the card for her. i was careful not to open the card too much or else hedwig's song would play. i suceeded!
i want to go to europe

it's the little things
today i went thriftstore shopping with my parents. i stumbled across a harry potter hoodie in the men's section. i showed my dad and he said "THAT'S MINE! I'M GOING TO WEAR IT WHENEVER I WATCH HARRY POTTER MOVIES." then he showed my mom and said "look ma, i have a quidditch jacket."
lolool my life is average. it is.
